The Hunting Experience
Your KAXAN experience begins upon arrival at Mérida International Airport, where our team welcomes you and transfers you to the ranch in Sotuta, just one hour away.
Each day starts with a traditional breakfast before heading into the Mayan jungle with experienced guides in pursuit of the iconic Ocellated Turkey and Central American Whitetail Deer.
After the hunt, return to the lodge to enjoy refined accommodations, locally inspired cuisine, and the quiet luxury of one of Yucatán’s most exclusive private sanctuaries.
Rooted in conservation and shaped by the traditions of the land, KAXAN offers a hunting experience as authentic as it is exceptional.
Hunting Season & Field Conditions
KAXAN offers exceptional hunting opportunities throughout the region’s authorized seasons.
The Central American Whitetail Deer season typically runs from November through May. Brown Brocket Deer may also be available during select dates in the spring. The Ocellated Turkey—found exclusively in the Yucatán Peninsula—is at its peak from March through April.
Hunts take place during Yucatán’s dry season, when mornings are cool and comfortable and daytime temperatures generally range from 75°F to 90°F.
Lightweight camouflage in natural tones, comfortable boots, and sun protection are recommended.
All hunting is conducted under authorized wildlife management programs that support ethical harvests and long-term conservation. Seasons and availability may vary each year in accordance with government regulations and authorized wildlife management programs.
Firearms & Permits
Guests are welcome to bring their own firearms or use rifles and shotguns available through KAXAN upon request.
Hunters traveling with personal firearms may temporarily import up to two sporting firearms into Mexico with prior authorization from the Mexican Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA). Our team assists guests with the required documentation and permit process in advance of arrival.
Ammunition is available at an additional cost, and exact pricing is confirmed prior to your hunt. All hunts are conducted in full compliance with Mexican regulations and authorized wildlife management programs.
